This Specialist Domestic Violence Program helps Women & Children suffering from domestic violence situations and provides a range of services to assist in removing them from those situations. The services offered include Staying Home Leaving Violence and Hunter Valley Women's Domestic Violence Court Advocacy Services.
Staying Home Leaving
Violence
(SHLV)
Established in 2010, the SHLV program provides support to women who have experienced domestic violence.
HV Women's Domestic Violence Court Advocacy (HVWDVCAS)
Carrie's Place is responsible for delivering the Women's Domestic Violence Court Advocacy Serivces across the Hunter.

Domestic violence occurs when a person who has a relationship of any kind, uses violent or intimidating behaviour to control or dominate another person in that relationship.
Domestic violence is an abuse of power. And it is a crime, punishable by law.
Domestic relationships where violence can be experienced include:
- Intimate/personal relationships
- Spousal relationships
- Family, parent/adolescent/child (including adult children towards elderly parents), sibling relations
- Carer relationships

13 11 14 Lifeline - Anyone across Australia experiencing a personal crisis or thinking about suicide can call 13 11 14, or text 0477 13 11 14 at night (6pm-midnight AEDT). Someone will help put you in contact with a crisis service in your state or territory.
1800 551 800 Kids Help Line - Free, private and confidential, telephone and online counselling service specifically for young people aged between 5 and 25 in Australia.
Individuals can also access local support services and search the internet using Daisy, a free app developed by 1800RESPECT that protects user privacy.
