Support
Case Management Services
Our case managers provide a best practice, specialist, trauma-informed and strengths-based model of service to eligible WDVCAS clients. Case management:
- Helps clients and families recover from their experience of DFV physically, emotionally, mentally and practically.
- Helps clients to escape the cycle of violence wherever possible.
- Connects clients with appropriate services.
- Helps clients recognise their experience as DFV, understand their options and know where to get help in future.
- Assists clients with a safety plan and appropriate legal protection.
- Helps clients and families with safe accommodation.
- Assists clients to stay safe, pursue their goals and develop skills to be independent of services.
WDVCAS case management supports women in the Hunter Valley-Port Stephens Local Government Area.
Please note this service is not open to external referrals; referrals for case management can only be made internally through our dedicated WDVCAS DFV Specialist Workers.
Hunter Valley Women’s Domestic Violence Court Advocacy Service is funded by Legal Aid NSW.
Hearing Support
HVWDVCAS Hearing Support assists women throughout the Hunter Valley-Port Stephens Local Government Area.
Hearing Support Workers assist clients in defended hearings in the Local Court for Apprehended Domestic Violence Order and/or domestic and family violence related criminal charge matters.
Hearing Support Workers empower clients to safely participate in the court process and attend hearings.
Hearing Support includes:
- Attending hearings with clients where needed and as capacity allows.
- Supporting clients with hearing clinics at Raymond Terrace, Maitland, Cessnock, Singleton and Muswellbrook Local Courts in partnership with the NSW Police Force.
- Supporting clients to access the safe room on hearing days.
- Supporting clients to access remote witness facilities/AVL, qualified interpreters and other supports as needed for hearings.
- Supporting clients with needs identified referrals to appropriate services.

Hearing Support Workers acknowledge the dynamics, complexities, and legal and social welfare consequences of domestic and family violence.
