Awareness Training

This training is aimed at workplace leaders, HR teams and businesses looking to recognise, understand and take action on the critical issues of domestic and family violence within the workplace and our community.

This impactful program:

  1. educates participants on gender stereotypes, violence prevention, and effective responses, fostering a safer, more informed work environment.
  2. provides real-world case studies, resources and self-care strategies, participants will be better equipped to support individuals affected by violence.
  3. helps fund essential programs at Carrie’s Place, ensuring the continuation of vital services for those in need, while promoting early intervention, recovery and long-term community well-being.

About the Course

Duration: 3.5-hour sessions
Participants: 10-15 per session
Indicative Price: Single session or 2 sessions per day.

Inclusions: Two qualified and experienced Facilitators with a considered focus on the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community, all pre-course preparation, travel time, participant handbook and a certificate of completion.

  • Discuss gender stereotypes and how they contribute to domestic and family violence.
  • Analyse community attitudes and myths towards domestic and family violence and understand where they come from.
  • Outline the various types of domestic and family violence.
  • Compare helpful and unhelpful responses to domestic and family violence and identify how the unhelpful responses could be improved.
  • Participate in case studies based on real client experiences.
  • Obtain multiple resources to support their work moving forward including where to refer a colleague, team member or client who makes a disclosure.
  • Engage in three self-care strategies and learn about several others.
